‘Over the Moon’ is inspired by the lunar cycle and the waxing and waning of the Moon

Introducing a collection inspired by the eight phases of the moon (new Moon, waxing crescent, first quarter, waxing gibbous, full Moon, waning gibbous, third quarter and waning crescent), which occur over the course of a lunar month. Each piece features interconnecting moons from each phase, entangled with one another, creating a cluster formation. The collection features brilliant cut diamonds set in platinum and yellow gold, with midnight blue enamel and white enamel accents. The blue enamel is inspired by the reflection of the Earth’s seas and the interdependence of the moon and the Earth, as it is the pull of the Moon’s gravity on the Earth that holds our planet in place.

Our design team drew influence from a variety of sources, from illustrations at Greenwich Royal Observatory to moon phase complications in our Patek Philippe timepieces. Our Head of Design, Rebecca Hawkins recently saw the Nebra Sky Disc, which had been unearthed after more than three millenia, on display at the British Museum. Dating back to 1800 BC, the disk world’s oldest representation of the night sky. The luminous gold on the disk depicts the full moon and lunar crescent, which is set against a blue green patina which together inspired the foundations of the collection.

“The many phases of this dazzling orb as it transits across the midnight sky has been the inspiration for artists and poets for millenia and it’s beauty and mystery are perfectly captured in this exciting new collection.” - Rebecca Hawkins, Boodles Head of Design
