The National Association of Jewellers (NAJ) is delighted to announce that Gary Wroe will be appointed NAJ President on June 8th at the Association's AGM, taking place at the Birmingham Assay Office.

Wroe will succeed David Doyle, who has served as President for the past five years. At the age of 17, Wroe began working as an assistant in the casting shop of Hockley Mint. Over time, he gained valuable experience and worked up the company ladder, eventually becoming the Group Managing Director in 2006.

He has held several significant industry positions, including Chair of the British Jewellers' Association (BJA), Chair of the NAJ and President of the British Allied Trades Federation (BATF).

Outgoing President David Doyle shares his support,

"It has been an honour and a privilege to serve the jewellery community over my five-year tenure as President. I am eternally grateful to all of those who have worked alongside me and supported me throughout; in particular, my sincere thanks to all at Team NAJ who continue to amaze and impress me with all that they do for our Industry.

“Having served my extended term in office, I’m delighted to hand over the presidency to Gary. I consider Gary not only a colleague but also a close friend, and those who have worked with him will know what an asset he is to the jewellery industry. I am confident he will continue to take the NAJ forward alongside the tireless work of the other National Committee members, the NAJ team and countless volunteers that help support our wonderful trade.

"On a personal note, I hope more people within our industry will take the opportunity to volunteer their time and expertise to the Association. The NAJ is here to serve every sector of the jewellery trade, but it can only do so through the support of those working within it."

On being elected President of the NAJ, Wroe shares,

"I am proud and honoured to become the President of the NAJ. I am aware of the significant responsibility that comes with this position and the shoes I have to fill. David skillfully navigated the Association through a time of internal transition and external challenges, and I express my sincere gratitude to him for his friendship and outstanding dedication and service.

"I look forward to continuing to work with everyone associated with the NAJ to continue to deliver our strategy of professional excellence and providing our members with the support and resources to thrive in a challenging economic environment."

Wroe will be officially appointed President at the NAJ's AGM on Thursday, June 8th. Taking place at 2.30 pm at the Birmingham Assay Office, the event will also include the AGMs for the BATF and Giftware Association, as well as the launch of this year's HALO competition, and a keynote presentation from Anna Blackburn, Managing Director of Beaverbrooks.
