FAQs

Why do I need to have my jewellery valued?

Most valuations are undertaken for insurance replacement purposes, but there are a number of other reasons why you may seek an IRV's assistance in connection with a valuation. Our leaflet may help to explain and clarify the different purposes of a valuation document, and to ensure you obtain the most appropriate type of schedule for your needs.

Who should value my jewellery?

A valuation is an informed opinion based upon many years of experience allied to formal training in gemmology and other specialist areas of product knowledge. Valuations need to be undertaken today to the very highest standards demanded by the Institute of Registered Valuers. Our leaflet outlines the service you will receive from one of our expert valuers.

Why do values vary?

Items of jewellery are valued differently for different purposes. You might wonder about the difference between the insurance value of an item and the amount you would get, as a private individual, if you chose to sell the piece.
